Weekend update for July 23 and 24

Hey, all, this weekend we have several events scheduled.

On Saturday we have an Invitational Regatta as part of the Regatta series. All boats welcome, with a single start for all fleets. Skipper’s meeting at 10:00 on A-dock with racing on the water at 11:00.

On Sunday we have an evening raft-up in Heron Cove out from the Marina at roughly 6:00. First boat in sets an anchor and the rest tie up. Might be a great night for some “bobbing” in the lake (swimming allowed within 15’ radius of your boat while wearing a PFD, per park rules.)

And on Tuesday night, Rear Commodore of Cruising Paul and Sunfish meister extraordinaire Dave will be sponsoring another Sunfish practice session. It’s an opportunity to see how to rig our Sunfish, and then take them out for a sail to hone skills. This event starts at 5:30 at the back of the main rigging lot before moving to the water. Don’t forget to bring your own PFD.

Temperatures will be hot and humid all weekend, so plan to have plenty of water on hand. Winds for Saturday look to be on the lighter side, building from the West as the day progresses. Should be enough to get some races off. Winds on Sunday look even better out of the SW (the best direction) at about 10 to 13 knots. Tuesday looks like our typical lighter summer evening breezes, which would be good to get Sunfish out and moving.
