Weekend update for August 29 and 30

I have additional information regarding Dianne Paxton. Her children have contacted us, and suggest that friends may wish to donate to the Multiple Myleoma Research Foundation (https://themmrf.org/tribute-in-memory-of/) or Grand View Hospital, where Dianne received so much good care (https://www.gvh.org/tributegifts/). They may try to organize a memorial, but in this time of pandemic, that is uncertain. Dianne wished to have her remains scattered on the Chesapeake, and we hope to have a date and location for boaters in the area to join.

This weekend’s events include Fleet Racing on Saturday, with each fleet getting a separate start, and later in the evening a Full Moon Raft-up.

Weather is looking to be humid with highs to 86º on Saturday, with lowering temps and humidity on Sunday, mostly sunny and 80º. Saturday looks to be the more problematic with rain coming in the evening and overnight. Racing may be ok, Raft-up may not. The wind forecasts at this point are all over the place, with one saying not much wind at all Saturday, and another showing quite a bit. Sunday in the wake of the cold front, we should see typically breezy NW winds up to 14 knots with gusts to nearly 25 knots, which is usually quite challenging conditions for the lake.
