Weekend events for September 26 and 27

Hey, all, this is the weekend of a very scaled back Steelman Triathlon. We also have Frostbite series racing scheduled for Saturday.

Steelman this year will be scaled back to 250 participants in accordance with pandemic outdoor gathering size regulations. They will still be setting up in the Marina parking lot on Saturday for Sunday’s race. We have spoken with Park management, and there will be more room available in the lot closer to the launch ramps than in previous years, so they are encouraging us to continue racing. Also, the Steelman is planning to set the race course in the afternoon, so should not affect our racing area. Depending on the amount of fishermen and boat trailers, we might have to rig boats adjacent to the main lot and then launch, but you’ll be able to figure that out when you get there.

On Sunday, of course, we have the Steelman. Paul Coache is organizing boats to anchor along the race course as usual. Please contact him through the Club Facebook Group if you are interested. Parking will not be as big an issue this year due to the smaller participant numbers, but you still must be at the Marina by 5:30 due to road closures. After the Steelman, you’ll pretty much have the lake to yourself.

Weather should be partly cloudy both days, with warmer than average temperatures in the upper 70’s to 80. Winds are looking pretty light Saturday from the southeast, and building a little stronger on Sunday from 6 to 10 knots from the south.
