Weekend events for June 29 and 30th:

This weekend is the annual Up the Lake, Down and Back (ULDB) regatta and picnic on Saturday. You should have RSVP’d by now, as we have sent 2 email campaigns and we’ve had postings on Facebook.

So far, the weather looks interesting, with a 50% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. But the winds are forecast out of the SSE and South at 11 to 16 knots, which would make for great racing. Let’s hope the thunderstorms hold off until the afternoon, as they often do in the summer. The last time we had the picnic in the rain, we had a great time under the tent!

We are asking for the following from attendees: volunteers to help set up our big 20×30 tent around 8:30, giving folks time to rig boats for the regatta. Also, if you have a pop-up tent, bring it in case we need coverage for overflow seating. Don’t forget to bring your folding chairs to use under the tents, as we will not have tables and chairs. Nor will be collecting 500 pound picnic tables!

Skipper’s meeting for the regatta will be at 10:00 on A-dock. Racing begins on the water at 11:00. This will be a distance race, and we will have separate starts for the cruising fleet and the racing fleet.

The picnic will begin after the race is finished. For those of you not racing, maybe 1:00-1:30?

Hope to see you there!

Commodore Brian
