Club activities postponed or cancelled

With regards to the novel coronavirus pandemic, public health officials have recommended “social distancing” to help limit the spread of novel coronavirus. This is extremely important. As you may know, pretty much all large gatherings of people are canceled, and businesses are shutting down or changing to “work from home” status. State and county parks are closed. People in public spaces should maintain 6 feet or more between themselves, and not touch each other. You should regularly wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds minimum, and wipe down commonly touched surfaces such as doorknobs and hard counter surfaces with disinfecting wipes.

Nockamixon Sail Club is currently “closed” as well. For the foreseeable future, all Club activities are postponed or canceled. So far, the impact has been on the Spring Warmup banquet, but any launch day activity is likely canceled or postponed.

Obviously, no one has any idea when public health restrictions will be lifted. We have no idea how this will impact closure of the Park. Anyone asking “What about? When?” etc. should know that no one has answers at this time. Based on my understanding of the spread of the virus in other countries, we will be in this situation for a minimum of 2 weeks, if not longer. I would not be surprised to find this extended to 4 weeks.

If you have any questions such as “Can I go get my boat to bring home?” please call the Park office directly. Obviously, since the Club does not manage any Park resources, we do not have any information to add.

I will communicate any new information as I learn it.
