Weekend Events for September 7 and 8:

Hey, all, this weekend we have our September Invitational Regatta, and a special race event, the Dianne Paxton Memorial Ladies’ Regatta. These events will run concurrently. Our usual Regatta rules apply, with all boats welcome to race and starting in a single start. Skipper’s meeting at 10:00 on A-Dock, and racing at 11:00. The Dianne Paxton Memorial Ladies’ Regatta will be a distance race with separate start for women skippers only, beginning at the same time. Men may crew, but may not skipper the boat. Many of you will remember Dianne as an integral part of the club for many years, tirelessly promoting the club to new members as Membership Secretary.

On Sunday we have sad day remembering the life of Paul Deery, club member and Flying Scot racer, who crossed the bar far too soon. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 at the Colton Chapel on the Lafayette college campus in Easton. The family has asked for donations to the Karl Stirner Arts Trail, and Nockamixon Sail Club has responded with a donation in Paul’s memory. https://www.karlstirnerartstrail.org/make-a-donation/

On Tuesday we will have our final evening Sunfish sail of the season, meeting at 5:00. Please do not park vehicles at the Sunfish storage. While this is our last organized evening sail, the Sunfish remain available through the rest of the season. We would do more evenings, but the problem is we are starting to run out of daylight.

Currently, the weather is looking a little iffy for Saturday. Final timing is not established yet, but as of today’s weather reports, we may see scattered showers in the morning, becoming more consistent through the afternoon and evening. Hopefully this will hold off until later in the day. Sunday should be clearing and sunny. Highs in the mid-70’s both days. Wind forecast as of now is for winds from the south around 9 knots and quite gusty Saturday, and shifting around to the NW on Sunday 9-13 knots.
