Get ready everyone, it’s the return of the ULDB Regatta!
Normally the Club hosts an “Up the Lake, Down and Back” Regatta and summer picnic. Of course, this year we had to cancel the picnic. Thanks, COVID. But we have rescheduled the Regatta for this Saturday.
All members are invited to participate. There will be a socially distant Skipper’s Meeting on the shores of A Dock at 10:00. The race will begin at 11:00 out on the water. As in previous years there will be 2 separate starts for 2 classes, a Criuising Class, and a Racing Class. Thistles, Flying Scots, Impulse 21s, and other Portsmouth handicap boats typically start in the Racing Class, while all other less racing-oriented boats sail the Cruising Class. Because we don’t have to end the race in time for the picnic to start, we might be able to run a longer distance for the Cruising Class. We will have registration and COVID health screening for all participants in the rigging lot and at A Dock for the skipper’s meeting.
On Sunday, we have an Afternoon Raft-up scheduled for 1:00 in No-Name Cove off the marina.
Weather looks very good this weekend, if a bit chillier than we are used to, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-to upper-60s. Winds for Saturday are currently forecast to be from the Northeast at 9 to 15 knots, giving some very interesting and shifty conditions down the lake. Sunday should be more of the same, if slightly less wind.
Hope to see you all out for one of our most fun regattas!
