Hey, all, this is our final weekend of scheduled on-the-water sailing events. After a long stretch of rainy cloudy weather courtesy of Hurricane Ian, it’s finally sunny again! On Saturday we have our final Frostbite series race, and final race of the year. All boats have a single start scored on Portsmouth Handicap. (I got it right this time.) Skipper’s meeting as usual at 10:00 at A-dock, and racing on the water at 11:00.
Following racing, which is usually some time around 2:30-3:00, we will be reorganizing the Sunfish for their winter nap. Sunfish sailors are encouraged to come lend a hand.
The Full Moon Raft-up scheduled for Saturday evening is officially cancelled because it’s going to be chilly. But if someone wants to raft up, feel free.
The final day for Summer Dry Storage is Saturday, 10/15. And our official Haul-Out Weekend for wet slip boats is 10/22 and 10/23. Club members will be out in force to help get boats out and masts down. The club pressure washers will also be on hand.
Our Autumn Banquet will be Sunday November 20 at the William Penn Inn. We’ll be emailing active members a flyer with instructions on how to pay online soon. There will also be posts on the main web page and in the Facebook Group. (We are currently working on the website to facilitate online payment.)
As I alluded above, it’s going to be sunny and dry this weekend. However, it’s also going to be a bit chillier, with highs in the upper 50s, maybe topping out at 60º on Sunday. Wind forecasts are showing NW winds on Saturday at 9-11 knots, which isn’t too bad for NW winds, and on Sunday W winds from 10-15 knots. We might see some windsurfers out on Sunday with winds like that.
