Hey, all, we have no Club events scheduled this weekend. Racing has concluded for the year, mainly because Summer Dry Slips ended yesterday, with all Summer Slipholder needing to remove boats on October 15 to make way for Winter Storage coming soon. Of course, if your Summer Slip is the same as your Winter Storage spot, your boat can stay.
Next weekend we will be doing Haulout Weekend, the Worst Weekend of the Year! Club members will be on hand to help pull out boats and unstep masts. We will also have the 2 Club powerwashers set up for bottom cleaning. As usual, Haulout Weekend is the weekend before Saturday, October 31, the last day of Wet Slip season. That way, if the weather next weekend is atrocious, we still have one more weekend padded in there. However, In the past 10 years that I have been sailing on Nockamixon, there often seems to be a late October Nor’easter that blows through the last day of October about 40% of the time!
The weather yesterday on Thursday was amazing. I hope you got out sailing. This weekend will be considerably colder. Clouds should clear on Saturday, with temperatures possibly not making it out of the 50’s. Winds should be healthy out of the NW at 9 knots and gusting higher, which makes for some challenging conditions around the marina and off the point with shifts and gusts. Sunday should clock around to the S, warming up a little bit, with pleasant winds 8 to 13 knots. Get your end-of-season sailing in while you can!
