Hello, everyone! First I would like to remind the Membership that our annual Up the Lake, Down and Back (ULDB) Regatta and Picnic will be Saturday, June 29. This event is free to members, but you must RSVP to Co-Vice Commodore Laurine Valenti before this Saturday the 22, so that we can have an accurate count for the caterers. You can register here: http://nockamixonsailclub.org/content/uldb-rsvp-form or email Laurine at keepsmilin49@yahoo.com
This weekend, we have a very special event. Nockamixon Sail Club will be hosting the Greater NY Flying Scot District Championships. Concurrently, we will be racing the 2nd Annual Glenn Wesley Flying Scot Memorial Regatta. There are currently 14 boats registered for this 2 day event. If you get a chance, please come out and show the Club’s hospitality to our guest racers.
The nasty weather we have been experiencing this week should clear out Friday, giving us sunny skies Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures in the low 80’s both days. Saturday should be a typical NW day for racers, with winds around 11 knots, gusting up to 20. As usual with a NW direction following stormy weather, the winds will be puffy and very shifty, making for challenging conditions for our Flying Scot racers. Sunday’s winds should calm down to a much more reasonable 8-12 knots from the west and southwest.
In Club news, our Family Fleet has had great success with our first Kid’s Sunfish Sailing Lessons. We already have a second session scheduled. Hopefully all of our familes with kids have been contacted by Fleet Captain Dave Radeschi, but if you have not and would like to be part of his Family Fleet email list, please be sure to let me or another officer know, and we’ll get you in touch with Dave.
