How did you all like the heat and humidity last weekend? I’m sure you didn’t, which is why this weekend should appeal. We’ve got a nice high pressure system controlling the weather this weekend, which has positives and negatives, as you’ll see…
This Saturday we have our scheduled Ladies’ Distance Race. This race is open to any women who want to skipper. Crew can be anyone, but women must be skippering and calling the shots. This race used to be a race up to the dam and back, but in recent years, a general distance race much like the ULDB regatta is preferred. If you’d like to participate, please register using this link to the Club’s website: http://nockamixonsailclub.org/content/ladies-distance-race-0
I mentioned plusses and minuses to our current high pressure weather pattern. On the plus side, this weekend will be sunny and warm (not crazy hot!) and the humidity should be manageable. On the minus side, we will probably have next to no wind for the Ladies’ Distance Race. Get your light wind sailing on! It looks like wind will shift around to the westerly and southwesterly directions for Sunday, and build into some nice breeze forecast up to 9 knots. Winds from this direction generally bring in humidity, but temperatures over the weekend should stay in the mid- to upper-80’s, which will be pleasant for this time of year.
