Hi, all, this weekend we get a full slate of activities!
On Saturday we have our annual Singlehander’s Regatta. This event is a fun race day for everyone with a boat typically sailed singlehandedly. This includes boats like Sunfish, Lasers, Force 5s, Zumas, Optimists, etc. We discourage sailing a boat such as a Thistle or Flying Scot, even though we know that many people do sail these boats singlehandedly. The common boats we see are cat rigged small boats, so maybe that’s the guiding principle. In any case, Club Sunfish are available to take out. Keep in mind that they must be reserved in advance here on the Club website, and they must be cleaned according to our COVID virus guidelines. Socially distant and masked Skipper’s Meeting at 10:00, racing begins at 11:00.
On Sunday, we have a scheduled Afternoon Raft-up in No-Name Cove, just out from the marina. This is a great opportunity for the Family Fleet to bring out the kids with kayaks, SUPs, or float-y toys to get some relaxing time. Raft-up is scheduled for 1:00.
The weather should cooperate this weekend, with temperatures keeping in the low 80’s Saturday, and maybe a few degrees lower Sunday. Winds shift to the East both days, and are likely to be strong, 10 knots with gusts to 20 (!), maybe a bit stronger on Sunday. Should make for fun racing on Saturday!
