This weekend we have a very fun event, the Singlehander’s Regatta, on Saturday. This race day is a great excuse to get the Sunfish fleet out for some fun. Other singlehand boats such as Lasers, Force 5s, Optimists, etc. are welcome. As usual, we’ll have a skipper’s meeting at 10:00 on A-dock, and racing at 11:00 out on the water. We only have Dave Moyer signed up for Race Committee, and we’d really like to have another person to give him a hand. We will have either 6 or 7 Sunfish available (we had 1 boat that needed fiberglass repair), and 4 or 5 hand dollies for boats. If we have a big turnout, we’ll need to share dollies, and if we have a REALLY big turnout, we could have folks take turns with boats in between races.
This coming Tuesday evening, we will be having another Sunfish sail. Grab your life jacket, and come out and have some fun!
And at the end of the month, we’ll be having our favorite event of the summer, the Up the Lake, Down and Back (ULDB) regatta and picnic! This is an important year for us (you’ll find out why at the picnic) so you don’t want to miss it! Mark your calendar as “busy” for June 29!
The weather looks very nice this weekend. We will be expecting mostly sunny skies and excellent temps in the mid-80’s, but with lower humidity following a front expected to come through Friday evening. Winds for Saturday’s racing will be a somewhat challenging NW-NE direction at 10-14 knots, so tack on those headers and get ready to hike! Sunday’s forecast is much the same, but the wind forecast looks like teaser winds clocking around to southerly directions through the day.
