This weekend we are running the Glenn Wesley Memorial Flying Scot Regatta on Saturday. All Flying Scot boats from anywhere and everywhere are encouraged to attend. 

Glenn was an instrumental member of the Flying Scot fleet, the Club, and Fleet Council. He was a very kind and helpful person, and on top of that highly intelligent and technical. He was always available to help with any boat, and especially Flying Scots. He was a formidable Scot racer, racking up many club and fleet trophies. Glenn served on Fleet Council for many years in many positions including Commodore. He was also our webmaster. 

Racing starts with a skipper’s meeting at 10:00 on A dock, and racing on the water at 11:00. Even if you don’t have a Flying Scot or want to race, you’re welcome to come out and help with race committee, or watch the racing from your own boat, meet the Flying Scot fleet, etc. 

Weather looks promising this weekend, with sunshine and high temps in the upper 70’s. Wind forecasts currently show great winds Saturday from the west at 10 knots, and higher gusts. Should be excellent racing! Sunday should be similar with possibly gustier, shiftier winds, and a 30% chance of showers in the evening.

Our first evening Sunfish sail of the season went off without a hitch last night. We had an excellent turnout with many new faces and some old hands ready to assist. These events will continue every other week throughout the summer, and are listed on the club website calendar. Keep in mind that in order to use the Sunfish sailboats, you must download and fill out the waiver form, located in the Club Resources> Club Sunfish Program webpage. Look for the NSC-BBProgram.pdf link at the bottom of the page, or in the Files section of the club Facebook group. Completed forms should be sent to Craig Tourtellot, our Sailing Director. You must be approved and demonstrate an ability to sail on all points of sail (so we know you won’t get stuck somewhere on the other side of the lake!)
