This weekend we have a very important event for Flying Scot sailors. On Saturday we will be running our annual Glenn Wesley Memorial Regatta. This event is for all Flying Scot boats. Glenn was an integral part of the Flying Scot fleet and of the club. He served on Fleet Council for many years and was our webmaster. Glenn was an exceptional guy, always willing to help out a fellow sailor and advance all the Flying Scot fleet. If you have a Flying Scot, or if you’re interested in crewing for this event, please come out Saturday. Registration and continental breakfast opens at 8:30, skipper’s meeting at 10:00, and racing starting at 11:00. There will be a late lunch and awards after the racing.
On Tuesday night, we will be running a Sunfish Sail with our Sunfish fleet. Hopefully this time without extra Canadian smoke ambiance! If you’d like to take out a Sunfish and hone your sailing skills, please meet us at 5:30 in the big lot or back at the Sunfish storage area. This is a great way to learn about the Sunfish and become approved to take out a Sunfish on your own.
The weather this weekend looks good. We should see mostly sunny skies all weekend, with temperatures starting in the low 80’s and increasing to mid-80’s on Sunday. Winds are forecast out of the NW at 9 to 15 knots on Saturday, but sadly looks like a teaser day on Sunday with a forecast of NW 3-4 knots. Usually this means a lot of waiting between light puffs of wind.
