Hey, everyone, I put a subject of “Events for the week” because we have A LOT going on this week.
First we have our Kid’s Sunfish training program which began Tuesday night, and continues Thursday night and Saturday morning. I’ve seen pictures of Tuesday night, and it looked like there was fun in the offing. Thursday’s weather looks a bit touch and go for now. Overnight Wednesday we should see some potential heavy rain possibly into Thursday’s morning rush hour. Then it will dry up for most of Thursday, until a line of thunderstorms could cross in the evening. From the forecast I saw, the classes could continue, but the program should keep a sharp eye on the radar and be prepared to get off the water and possibly de-rig the boats in rain.
Tonight, Wednesday, should be a good night for Wednesday night sailing/informal racing, with great SE winds.
On Saturday, the kid’s classes continue in the morning from 9:00 to 12:00. Following the kid’s classes, at noon we will have Sunfish rigging training. This is an opportunity for any club member to come learn where the Sunfish live, how to check them out, how to move them to the launch area, and how to fully rig them. This is not a sailing class, but rather a Sunfish How-To.
Keeping the good times rolling on Saturday night, we will be having a Full Moon Raft-up in No-Name Cove just out from the marina. Raft-up typically begins around 6:00, with the first boat on station dropping anchor. If someone would like to bring the Committee Boat out to be anchor boat, that would be great, as you could use the new grill for yummies!
Weather for the weekend is as discussed above for Thursday night lessons, and Saturday should be a nice day, with Sunny skies and temps in the low 80s. Winds are forecast to be very lively out of the SW, one of the best directions on the lake, from 11-18 knots. Sunday gets kinda icky, with a chance of showers most of the day, with thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. It should get warmer into the mid-80’s for Sunday, and winds should again be very sprightly from the SW. If the rains hold off, it would be a good sailing day.
